As a part of the omnichannel customer service platform, connecting email providers to your txt.me live chat widget allows your operators to send offline messages to customers.
The customer can be asked for their email address by the chat Welcome Form or using chat triggers. txt.me can also import your customers’ contact details from a CRM or the current session information.
We will use Gmail as an example, but one can use the same principles to integrate live chat with any email provider.
Step 1: Check that IMAP is turned on
According to this guide, please do the following steps:

- On your web browser, open Gmail.
- In the top right, click Settings. See all settings.
- Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
- In the “IMAP Access” section, select Enable IMAP.
- Click Save Changes.
Step2: Obtain a new App Password
According to this guide, please do the following steps:

- First, go to your Google Account.
- Select Security.
- Under “Signing in to Google,” select App Passwords. You may need to sign in. If you don’t have this option, it might be because:
- 2-Step Verification is not set up for your account.
- 2-Step Verification is only set up for security keys.
- Your account is through work, school, or other organizations.
- You turned on Advanced Protection.
- At the bottom, choose Select app and choose the app you use. Next, select the device and choose the device you’re using. Generate.
- Follow the instructions to enter the App Password. The App Password is the 16-character code in the yellow bar on your device.
- Please write down the password. We will use it in the next step.
- Tap Done.
Step3: Open your Widget’s settings and Email section
Turn on “Send emails” and fill out the form as you see on the following screenshot:

Don’t forget to click on the Save Changes button.
